FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Dental treatment for patients aged 50 +

We have set out the most common problems and issues affecting adults aged over 50.

denturesDentures | Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and, once fitted, will appear natural and provide a perfect smile. There are two main types of denture:

  • Partial Dentures which replace a few teeth
  • Complete Dentures which replace a whole set of teeth.

Oral and Mouth Cancer | Through regular check-ups, we are able to detect early signs of oral and mouth cancer in patients. An oral cancer examination is painless and quick taking only a few minutes during which we will check your face, neck, lips, and entire mouth.

If any of the following symptoms lasts for more than two weeks, then arrange an appointment with us:.

  • A sore, irritation, lump or thick patch in your mouth, lip, or throat
  • Numbness in your tongue or other areas of your mouth
  • A white or red patch in your mouth
  • Difficulty moving your jaw or tongue
  • A feeling that something is caught in your throat
  • Difficulty chewing or swallowing
  • Swelling of your jaw that causes dentures to fit poorly or become uncomfortable
  • Pain in one ear without hearing loss

To reduce your risk of mouth cancer you should stop smoking, cut down on your alcohol intake and eat a healthy diet with at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day.

Cosmetic Dentistry | We have a number of experts in cosmetic dentistry who are able to use routine dental procedures to reshape your teeth, close gaps and contour gums. These procedures are less intrusive and effective than opting for plastic surgery.

Your teeth will naturally fade in colour over time. We can whiten your teeth using the revolutionary 'Britesmile' technology which will enhance your smile!
